Especially during winter when the hill was covered in snow, I didn't want to risk tripping, falling, or getting run over. So, I got the handicap placard. I didn't use it all the time and I didn't always keep it in my car, but when I did use it, it made things more convenient. For example, when going to Walmart, I would use it to find a parking spot closer to the entrance. Handicap parking spots are not always taken, so it was generally easy to find a spot. I wasn't always inclined to get a handicap placard, but when I had to walk down the hill, I figured I might as well. Now that my handicap parking spot is expired, I don't plan on renewing it. It's kind of a hassle and I don't really think I need it. I'm always talking about getting good therapy and walking a little bit further to my car every day.
